The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 一次短暂又深刻的相聚，泪目。两个人在一起之后，小天使 Cai 变得更加包容和理解，长大了哈，而天使 Gav 变得更像个孩子，会情绪失控，被童年的阴影萦绕，依然那么善解人意，那么爱 Cai。他们在一起，真的是相互拯救。

整体更像是电视番外，还是拍得太电视剧了，节奏太缓慢了，剧情也没有多少波澜，拍成电影某些时刻就觉得冗长和单调。同时电影扩大了悲情与动情点，但内里又缺乏支撑，就会显得空洞和刻意，相比剧版少了太多细节和内蕴，只剩下青春期颜与肉的那点工业糖精。
甜死了。“my baby”这个词儿真的太甜了
感觉这一场疫情让时间过得好快，查了一下《游戏男孩》的剧是2020年9月追完的，已经过去一年半了，我感觉就像去年追的一样，我的2021年是不是被谁偷走了？这个电影版感觉是第一季和第二季之间的一个过渡，虽然这一集有笑有泪，但是结尾Gav还是坐上了去纽约的飞机，很明显第二季他和Cai还要以视频聊天的形式互诉相思了。作为这部剧的粉丝看这部电影应该很满足，毕竟一年半没听那洗脑的baby了。而且在电影里，也给了所有的配角出境机会，甲米地CaiReel CP粉头Pearl，还有我已经忘记的Terence、Wesley、Achilles这组三角恋，当然还有一个要棒打鸳鸯反被鸳鸯棒打的苏嬷嬷~~总之CaiReel的所有画面都很甜，室内戏、海边戏还有船戏（互攻赞）都是甜的，我要在第二季上映之前去重温一下第一季了
没有争吵、没有误会、没有隔阂，Gav和Cai小天使互相扶持、互相安慰，怎么会有这么好的感情啊，求S2一定要尽早结束异地恋，不忍心看babys哭 呜呜
很久没有尝到这么浓的狗血了。
疫情元素少了很多，主要是关于同性恋群体与朋友，家人的关系的处理。
与阿姨对质上帝一段也是很直接、扎心啊。作为对电视剧Gav的家庭和心理的补充吧。
比第一季有逊色，电影的情节有点单薄，我带着主角滤镜看的，还是比同类型其他Bl演技好一些的
没想到两个人居然是互攻！虽然最后要分别，但是我相信他们的故事没有结束，还会继续一起走下去的，期待第二部。
全剧主厨说的最多的就是抱歉，，对不起，，，
预告剪得太好了。看了电影版有点普通，Susan姨的出现算是高潮部分，男配角们就感觉没有出现的必要。
真的被大电影惊艳到了，菲律宾最近真的可以诶，顺便推荐一下《电影爱情故事》，好喜欢这种不是纯粹狗血尬来的故事，看剧的时候还只是被甜到不行，大电影感觉升华了好多，开始深刻起来了，小卷毛演技真的好🉑，搓手手期待第二季.
更喜欢电视剧版本，更让人上头，但是电影版也很好的看完了，打高分是因为两个主演的演技真的很好，对于泰腐中毒的我来说，这个演技真是吊打泰腐演技了，说哭就哭，而且哭的梨花带雨，哭的很好看，令人心疼，如果最后的结局是其中一个人留下来去追随另一个人就更好了，可是现实中哪有那么多唯美的结局呢……最后说一句吻戏、船戏拍的很好看，很真实，就很真……
好久没看到这么压抑的电影了...节奏快得仿佛也跟着上了个忙季的班（。BAFTA得了一堆提名，值得一看！
