The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 单一场景，话剧电影，依靠对话和巧合层层递进，剧本扎实，酣畅淋漓。Richie有角度像马修古迪， Francis有角度像迈克尔皮特，片尾出字幕，名字里带有O的停留时间稍微久一点，然而最后三秒出现FOCUS时，O却是模糊的

ps.柳乐优弥演的年轻北野武怎么有种德永既视感。
前面是中规中矩的励志片。与其说是北野武的传记电影，不如说是北野武对恩师还有法兰西剧场那段时光的怀念。 就像我们不忍心苛责《你好，李焕英》一样，都融入了创作者真挚的感情。 累积的情绪在最后师父去世之后开始爆发，最后的长镜头让人忍不住落泪，师父和北野武一起说着“我是谐星啊，八嘎呀路”，然后跳起踢踏舞，这结尾太美了。 老年北野武居然和青年是同一个演员饰演的，确实是一个挑战，演员完成得很出色。
单一场景的悬疑故事，剧作上通常很难做到完全自恰的，必须要依靠巧合来推动叙事。剩下的就要看演员气场和魅力能不能给电影争取到足够的「电冰箱问题」了。（电冰箱问题就是观众在观影时并不会意识到故事逻辑有问题，等回家拉开电冰箱找饮料时，才会忽然意识到，这个故事有问题啊……）
服化道满分，节奏超赞，反转反转再反转，有点绝。
马克里朗斯演了个洗脑嘴炮大王。裁缝店的英国古典绅士风格还不错，前半比较好看，剧情有点硬。
每个人心里都有些秘密。
预料到了twist却没有想到这么精致精彩！ 今年院线最喜欢的一部电影了！尤其是没有拖到两个小时+，全部在小裁缝店完成，老电影感十足。天啊快去看！
简单的场景，不算多的主要人物，依然可以创造优秀的影片，其根本就是有一个出色的剧本
真真切切全凭演技拉住观众的注意力，但凡换个水平次一点的演员，这种假装严谨实则一意孤行的剧本早被各路大侠抓着往死里喷了。
师徒情谊很感人。
上一次看到剧本这么硬、舞台这么小的电影，是《这个男人来自地球》。
看完后查了才知道居然是北野武的传记片，一开始出场的人如此像北野武我还很奇怪呢，原来是有本人参与，难怪故事的细节上如此丰富。
