The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 因为演员里有“高委员”陈以文才看得这部电影。即使不到一个半小时的时长依旧觉得乏味，虽然演员都演的不错，但故事实在是没什么意思。不过很多中国夫妻可能都是这个状态吧，日常生活在一起却几乎无感情交流，过成这样真的很可怜而又可怕。
这都啥！日本很流行电影里混国外戏剧的戏中戏，然而不知道为啥要搞那些

幻想类电影中国也开始拍了。因为雷击有了跟万物对话的特异功能，我也好想有。
幻想也是需要经得起推敲的，而不是胡作非为恰烂钱。
真是很有特点的片呀，全员东北腔开口就是搞笑，然后物化人也特别形象，非常有趣的电影
题材挺好玩的，就不要强行煽情了吧，林狗是花妞啊。哈哈
故事都讲不好，硬加笑点更尴尬。 最后花妞稍微晚回了一点我的心情。 许久没见的张子栋还是很可爱。 焦俊艳整个角色太尴尬了，人设尴尬剧情尴尬，硬加的感情线更尴尬、不如就做个中二少年的梦、也比现在好点
直到三分一的时候才有对白，厉害了。前面看着像纪录片。
婚姻是一场漫长的修行，途中的小三只是导火索，两个人却彼此折磨耗尽。陈湘琪在最后二十分钟撑起了整部电影，婚礼上的回眸让人心疼又觉得她通透了。当下电影可以回到九十分钟之内这件事情值得鼓励。
其实整体还不错，导演要是收敛点自己无趣的笑点，男主再换一个人，估计票房会很好的。
人生其实就是最难的修行，需要经历的磨难更多也更残忍和无奈
太蠢了，像在饭局上像听那些自以为有趣的社会人在聊天，
四星是浮了，有感情分在。男女主角的演技與氣質、氣場都有撐不起角色的情況出現。女主角更嚴重。反倒是一眾港台老戲骨與反派、配角們更稱職。但這種題材在國內拍得少，且常拍得大砸。就算剪輯有突兀，劇情連貫與邏輯性都有瑕疵，但勸善懲惡的立意，以及溫暖人心的效果，確實有，起碼對我起作用了，所以我願意多給點鼓勵分。純論技巧的話，三星都有點虛。但這種片能在國內這環境中拍出來，拍得不崩，很不容易了。
伏笔如此之多却没能形成有效收束，以为能像《恶之教典》般爆发，结果想太多，胃口吊太大没什么好结果，还得说日本人脑子里都什么猎奇的怪癖好。
走一步算一步的剧情，有些镜头真不用拖这么长什么信息都没有讲完撑死一个小时，好多转场用渐出属实没搞懂，后期进音效音乐才好点。肩扛摄影是真难看🥺
我實在不喜歡全是狀態的電影，無所事事是因為無話可說
旅馆戏以前的部分不知所谓，女主角的演出也十分刻意。旅馆戏及其以后，这部分虽然短促，但抬升了主题，且是全片最有看头处，这样回过头看，又少不了前面的铺垫。还是要说一句，女主角在前半部分的演技可以再精进。
中年婚姻，同一屋檐下的行尸走肉，同床异梦的夫妻角色扮演者。一潭死水般的生活甚至不如那几通小三姐姐的电话来的有生命力。每个人都在摆烂，因为他们深陷这种泥沼，在里面缓缓躺平了。生活化的流水日常作为影片的主旋律，让人倍感压抑，仿佛与他们夫妻无声的同桌吃饭，食不知味。
No.2405 莫名其妙的剧情，不讨喜的演员，稀烂的演技。
