The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 家国情仇融合的比较好的影片了，如果是政治家可以看看不同层次政治家的权术运作，也可以看看年轻政治家的热情；我们普通人看看休和妻子之间的夫妻关系微妙变化。无论我们的关注点在哪场战争，两位年轻人都懂得了很多处理问题方式也成熟了许多。
这题材定位有点尬，不过演的不错，就完全能看下去
15-37英国《慕尼黑：战争边缘》
最后那几行字也是挺一言难尽的。
欧洲版荆轲刺秦，结果荆轲输了，秦王也输了……给张伯伦翻案，给英国贴金，我就想问：世界大战“赢得”死缓一年，英国如果真在道德高地，为什么不主动通知欧洲其他国家也做好准备？比如一起签慕尼黑协议的法国后来一触即败；而且这一年，难道只有英国在备战吗？胸有成竹的希特勒难道没有赢得多一年的准备时间？这样想想，电影的narrative building 就显得幼稚至极了。另外英国男主演技很差，一张猿猴脸，永远惊诧木讷状，毫无厚度。他的老婆那条线也完全应该删掉，换成对莉娜角色的加强，这样开头结尾的大学三人行时光才有意义。
1938年在捷克没有出席的情况下就把苏台德划给了德国，2022俄罗斯美国欧盟在讨论乌克兰的领土问题。硬要给张伯伦妥协找借口，其实马克龙对英国的评价一针见血“英国从来就是个墙头草”。剧情一开始就很抓人，每个人都有自己的立场和观点，执政党反对党军方间谍错综复杂，演员非常棒。
还算值得一看吧，能把这么一段已经公认无趣的历史拍的如谍战大片一样有声有色扣人心弦，特别是能和当下的俄欧争端、台海局势有直接的对照呼应。
紧张的令人窒息的电影。应该学习一下这样的作品。
很能抽动神经，有点窒息。这次有点给张伯伦洗白的嫌疑。但，更像我们今天的另一个预言，看看这几天的乌克兰局势或者过几天的“战事”吧！另一个希特勒已经诞生......
就个人而言
好莱坞大片《明斯克》预“定项”，金凯瑞饰美稀宗，丹尼尔克雷格演俄武帝，杰瑞米雷纳饰乌伶侯。全片就被一句话给毁了，美西方真就背靠电影工业为所欲为，硬洗裱糊匠张中堂的无能。😅
咋地？张伯伦是隐忍的英雄？绥靖还有道理了？铁爸爸演张伯伦也阻止不了我骂他^_^另外我有了新的cp嘻嘻嘻嘻嘻
也是一种解读吧，都是政坛老油子的术语和演绎，你要利息人家要本金，看谁的眼头更高一些了…主角们到底在其中体现了什么价值这个逻辑太薄弱了
我们不能选择自己生活的时代， 唯一的选择就是如何回应。但是这个片子拍得让人在各方面都很火大啊……
政治是人类最深奥的学问。扮演希特勒的演员真心不行。
如果不去探究历史，就这个剧情还能看。如果去探究历史，原来历史还可以这样拍。
有一点没看明白：党卫军军官既然没在英国翻译的房间里搜到文件，为什么还要打英国翻译？
