The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 比院线版好看了很多。很长也有点过长，看着确实有点累，但却够吸引人，不会觉得冗长乏味。扎导的风格非常明显，油画的质感，优雅的慢镜加上配乐，很像《守望者》2.0。最大的变化，就是每个人物都有了完整的弧光，感情爆满，有了代入感：闪电侠不再是一个单纯负责搞笑的工具人，而是有自己的伤痛和挣扎，海王不再是一个粗犷鲁莽的肌肉男，而是一个情感细腻不外露，有牵挂和迷茫的儿子和国王，钢骨不再一味的孤僻叛逆，而是在身不由己的世界里拼凑自己人性的碎片。三巨头的变化不是很大，反派依旧俗套弱鸡，这限制了片子的上限。印象里院线版就像是一部二流无脑的视效爆米花，而这部导剪版能看出分镜的考究和美感。整体提升不少。
