The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 两个受伤的灵魂相依为伴，以为是一个灵魂的终点，却成为了两个灵魂的新的起点，狗子的治愈作用的确强大，对于狗来说，的确他只有你，当你能感觉到狗子对主人的全神贯注，似乎没有什么是不能治愈的。
虽然很俗，但是不难看，跟一般那种蠢到不行的狗片不一样，

公路片景色不错乡村音乐也不错，三天就得到了一条有着PTSD的军犬的信任？拍电影而已！
没看过原作单说本片，这是一个好但还不够好的剧本，只属于杰哈的独角戏，他的确很好地完成了任务，但首先是加入了一些不必要的枝节，比如男主哮喘有什么意义吗？他一定得这么焦虑吗？这就引出了藉由人物的焦虑情绪来塑造氛围并不成功，只有男主的表演在紧张而影片的其余全部都不紧张。结尾也太满了，没有任何空间，影片的整体气质比较像一部三流的美剧。
